Set of Two Vintage Japanese Flower Arrangement Books deals 1934 & 1938

"Selected Flower Arrangements of the Ohara School" was an illustrated book published in 1934 by Yamanaka & Co. to introduce Americans to the art of the Ohara school of Moribana and Heikwa flower arrangement. Its companion book, deals Volume II was released in 1938.

These unique books were printed in Japan and bound accordian-style with no spine, only a front and back cover (see photos). Volume 2 has had a plastic sleeve attached so it can be opened like a regular book and to preserve the cover.

Both books have a cardboard enclosure. Both boxes and covers are in great condition with little wear. There is some foxing and discoloration in Vol 1, but mostly just on the edges and the first and last few pages. None of this distracts from the beauty of the illustrations or the quality of the printing. Vol 2 is in even better shape, possibly because of the plastic cover.
