During WWII base metals were unavailable but Napier was able to produce sterling and sterling vermiel pieces. Napier's factory was among those called into service for the war effort and Napier made metal parts etc. as well as military awards and most notable dog tags worn by the soldiers and sailors designed to make as little noise as possible. During this time they were allowed to continue to make goods for sale as long as military contracts were on schedule.
