Over 50 pieces of glass in this piece, including a fused glass eye for the parrot! Stained glass free form PARROT panel with lots of vibrant colors!

I make one of these about once a year, using all the leftovers from my favorite glasses. As you can see from the photos, the glass colors change as the light source does. The panel comes with suction cups, and like all suction cups, they should be reset several times a year.

People sometimes ask "Why is stained glass so expensive?" Each piece has to be drawn, cut, put to the grinder, washed, edged with tape, and the tape has to be flattened on the edge and both sides. The pieces are then arranged and soldered on both sides and the edges. Then the panel is cleaned gently and a patina of copper or bronze is applied and polished with a glass wax polish. Finally, the hangers are soldered on.

The eye of the parrot was made in a separate process which required 2 firings in the kiln.
