Peaches and Cream deals (pipe)

This 7 inch long pipe is made from peach wood, with a delicately fitted coyote femur deals stem, connecting to a wooden mouthpiece. Polished with a protective coating of beeswax. The stem offers a gentle curve, utilizing the natural curve in the leg bone giving the piece an ideal shape.

I like to bring out the natural beauty of the materials I use in a way that fuses the various media and allows for a functional finished piece of art. I let the material speak to me.

The peach wood was harvested by me from an old peach tree in the backyard, taking plenty of time to let it dry out naturally before giving it a new life as a fine pipe. The bone was thoroughly cleaned to ensure the oils have been removed. The porous nature of bone allows for a well breathing pipe stem that helps to cool the smoke.
