Found a downed branch while on a hike recently. Didn't know the exact type of wood it was until I started carving it - since branches have different bark texture than the main trunk. These pieces are inspired by the natural textures and shapes present in nature. I boil the wood to remove the bark, which leaves this beautiful texture - a reminder of where it came from. There's also a uniqueness to each piece with this process. Even if using a template to cut the overall shape, the outer surface texture and shape inform the final piece - which, to me, connects back to nature.

I finish each carving with walnut oil, then a finish application of wood butter (walnut oil/beeswax- my own blend). This creates a velvety smooth deals finish.

These are 14" in length and the bowl sizes are 4"x2".
