The Lion of Judah is the biblical representation of God, showing his rage at the atrocities that are inflicted on his creation, specifically on the human race. He is impassioned by his love for us and the desire to intercede and rescue us. However if you look closely you can see the chains that bind him. These chains are not of a power greater than him but deals rather by him. In his great wisdom and plan bigger than anything we can understand he gave us free will. Even though he has the power to intervene he does not always do so by his own will (symbolized by the chains). Thess chains do not diminish his passionate love for us. He roars in the hopes that we will hear him and be the ones to be set free.
