Miriam Haskell deals Jet Black Bead Necklace and Earrings 62 Inches Long

Spectacular 62 inches jet black beaded neck by Miriam Haskell with matching earrings. The beads are jet black glass with facets. Between each bead is a small spacer beads of smooth jet black glass. The size is extra long - 62 inches - allowing for a doubling of the strands when worn. Possibly three rows when worn choker style. The necklace is fastened with a c-clasp and has a metal hang tag saying "Miriam Haskell". Both clasp and hang tag are japanned black metal. The matching earrings feature a single jet black faceted glass bead dangling from a flower. The deals bead is bigger than the beads in the necklace. The earrings flower is made of japanned black metal with a center black faceted glass bead surrounded by a wired on ring of smooth black beads. The clip on has an adjustment screw and is signed "Haskell" with "Miriam Haskell" in a circle on the back of the clip on. The earrings also has a pat pend number 3,176,475 on the base of the screw (this is the only area where the black japanned is missing on one earrings. The earrings dangle 1-1/8 inches. Condition is excellent with minimal wear. Please note that all glass bead jewelry will have very small chips called flea bites. This normal and expected.

According to the information from the book Miriam Haskell Jewelry by Gordon and Pamfiloff, the patent number on the earrings date to 1965 when AroSac company introduced a modified version of the screw adjusting clip ons adopted and used by Miriam Haskell - Pat. 3.176.475. This was used by the company until the 1990's. In the book on page 83 there are a pair of earrings with the same flower design in blue and green glass that has been dated to 1965. This set is around the same time.
