Turn of the Century cast iron ashtray and cigar box opener tool from the Liberty Foundry, St; Louis, Mo., most likely from the early 1900s.
Ashtray: 4-1/4" diameter, 3/4" deep. Marked on the edging: Liberty Foundry Co. St. Louis.
Cigar box hatchet tool: 4-5/8" long footprint.
No cracks, outstanding iron patina, clean, no crud in the ashtray bowl, absolutely beautiful examples.
The Mo. for Missouri on the tool has a bit of a casting or wear flaw, zoom in for a better look, not a big deal in my opinion, you decide. The camera shows a bit of a bronze deals undertone around the perimeter of of the ashtray where the wording is, it is faint but shows up in the pictures more prominent than it actually is.
