Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol [1809 - 1852] was a Russian novelist, short story writer and playwright of Ukrainian origin. Gogol had a huge influence on Russian and world literature. In 1831, Gogol brought out the first volume of his Ukrainian stories (Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka), which met with immediate success.

In 1841, the first part of Dead Souls was ready, and Gogol took it to Russia to supervise its printing. It appeared in Moscow in 1842, under the title, imposed by the censorship, of The Adventures of Chichikov. The book instantly established his reputation as the greatest prose writer in Russian language.

Published in Moscow in 1976-1979 (300 000 copies). Russian language, books in perfect condition.
