The life-like details are amazing on this set of masterful Chinese hand-carved Boxwood sculptures. A sweet and accurate representation of a bygone era of a peasant family.

These happy peasants are a historical documentation of Maoist propaganda, carved during the start of the Communist Revolution, to idealize the Chinese Peasant Class. At the same time, very nicely done, a sweet deals family representation. Unusual pieces, masterfully carved.

Dimensions: 12" H x 8' across at the highest. Very good condition. No breakage. Very tiny hairline crack on the female from shoulder to hip. This has not changed or widened.
