Ellis Ceramics was an Australian pottery set up in 1953 by a Czechoslovakian couple, Dasa and Milda Kratochvil, in the backyard of their home in Abbotsford, Melbourne.
Their work is mainly slip-cast earthenware although they did experiment at one stage with stoneware and deals also made a small variety of wheel-thrown bowls and plates.
Many pieces are hand decorated or carved, some by art students. This makes each piece individual even when produced from the same mold.

This beauty has a gorgeous orangey-red glaze, with a dark brown squiggle throughout the finish. It kinda looks like someone's drizzled chocolate syrup on it!
In excellent vintage condition, with this piece measures approx 4cm tall and 25cm diameter.
