Deals Antique French Crucifix Cross Celluloid Blue Velvet

This antique wall piece features an early celluloid cross, 9 1/2" long and 5.25" wide, framed on cobalt blue velvet. The centerpiece of the cross is a celluloid crucifix. The corpus of the crucifix is 4" long and 2.75" wide. The crucifix bears the added character of a patina from the soft layering of centuries of airborne dust, which may, but need not be removed. At the base of the cross is a 3/4" celluloid bar from which likely hung a holy water font. The back of the cross is finished with a composite leather-like material and has a brass ring for hanging.

This rare piece was made in France in the 1800s. It is in great antique condition. It would beautifully grace your home in an entryway, living area or other devotional space.
