MAINTENANCE- Brass, in general, is a type of material that should be polished with metal polish every 2 months to keep up with the shiny finish, however, if you do not prefer the shiny finish, you can skip polishing and it will come up with a vintage look. Although please keep the item away from water as it can be stained and will need to be polished more often. Also if it is not polished for a long period of time, it might be oxidized to the point where metal polish would not be enough to bring the original shiny finish and would require a professional.
